Pantone's Colour of the Year 2017: Greenery

Greenery

Image result for pantone color of the year 2017

cr. R.Allum 2015

If you've been following the Pantone hype you know that they match up other colours with the colour of the year. I'm not getting into that but do keep scrolling for outfit inspiration! ^_^

Greenery, it's self explanatory name and color. Greenery, grass, leaves, nature. Not the rich, dark green of a northern forest but more like the the new leaves of a mango tree. The colour of macha I'd say to be exact. The range is that of light to med-light yellow greens.

Green is a colour that has been proven to improve mood. This is why looking out the car window on a long drive out of the city can be so calming.
Light green can symbolise a fresh start or new beginning. Like the new growth of a mango tree.
Green is also synonymous with prosperity for some crystal meanings so may this year be just that! It also applies to the heart chakra so let there be love! World love :3

Pantone chose this colour because they wish to boost the mood of the world. Hopefully fashion bloggers and retailers embrace the colour and we see a shift from constant neutrals and metallics in everyday wear. Bring Back Colourrr! Maybe in Spring there'll be a change :D

Personally I would have gone with another jewel tone/name like Peridot/Olivine but we had Rose Quartz last year sooo... :'D

Here's to green! and nature inspired outfits!

I whipped up some quick outfits from H&M.

Ring Meanings: Which finger?

Ring Bling Bling!

We have ten fingers shared between two hands. If you have more or less than that please forgive me.
I made this post to go with all the rings I made recently.
Check out my new rings available on Instagram :D New Rings!
[All photographs belong to me unless stated otherwise. Please do not use photos or replicate any designs without permission and credit]

To explain the meanings of the fingers we should get a general idea of what the two hands may symbolise. This is based on dominance obviously, since most people are right hand dominant that is how the info will be presented.
If you are left-handed then switch it.
If you are ambidextrous lucky you :D but I don't think the specifications of Left or Right will apply.

Left Hand (non-dominant)
The "Princess-hand" I only learned this term recently.
The weaker hand, a little less coordinated but can still perform regular tasks.
Meanings
Character and beliefs, Faith

Right Hand (dominant)
Main hand, main squeeze, my right hand...hand(man) ahaha I'm corny. :D
The stronger hand, throws straight, superhand.. damn you so coordinated. Write that 4 page essay in 30mins.
Meanings
The physical hand, greater visibility, Will

The Thumb

A ring on the thumb can symbolise many different things among which are freedom, strength, courage, willpower, individualism and independence. A strong finger separate from the other fingers and this may be how the various meanings came about.

Separated/Divorced women in some cultures wear right thumb rings.
Gay persons may wear thumb rings to portray their orientation in some societies.
For men a thumb ring can show wealth depending on the thickness of the band.

In palmistry: a ring on the right thumb expresses rationality and independence. Fortune, Academic success(Chinese)

So if you are an independent, logical person you may be drawn to thumb rings.

The Pointer/Index/Forefinger

One of the stronger fingers it is associated with goals and ambition.
We use it to point at things, to say what we want or show a direction.

Like the things it does a ring here can symbolise desire for success or that the wearer is driven and ambitious or even possesses leadership qualities(right hand).
A ring on this finger can also aid in focus.

In palmistry: Spirituality, Confidence, Ambition, Ego. Desire for domination/power/enterprise(Chinese)

If you have a goal or want to become more driven or just have a focal piece, a ring on this finger is best. My right index finger is one of my favourite fingers for rings. A ring here will always be seen.

The Middle Finger

The centre of the fingers, it represents self. Purpose. Masculine in nature. A bit beat up if you write a lot without protection :(
A meaningful ring is suggested for this finger. Something that tells of your persona; a Birthstone,a custom piece, a quirky piece or an impulse buy that you had to have.
For men a simple ring is suggested.

In palmistry: Responsibility, Discipline, Balance, Destiny(Chinese)

This is a nice spot for a ring that doesn't tarnish since it will be getting much abrasion.

The Fourth/Ring Finger

The finger of loveee and commitment. A little weaker than the rest for most people.

When you think of the types of rings that are worn on the Ring finger the meaning comes to light.
Chastity, Promise, Engagement and Wedding rings are worn on this finger.
It's a pretty important finger when it comes to symbolism so to avoid any *gasps* "You're engaged!" I suggest wearing an obvious non-engagement ring. Stay away from clear, focal, gem-cut stones or plain bands. Wear a creative or obviously handmade piece on this finger.

In palmistry: Creativity, Emotional expression. Lover/Family ties(Chinese)

The Little/Pinky Finger

The smallest, the baby finger. You made promises with it as a child. Very important in piano playing or drawing/painting (speaking from experience)

Like the Index this finger can serve as a place for a focal piece or statement piece, a flashy thing. It will be seen by people looking at you from afar.
Certain professions wear rings from their school on their pinky fingers. A ring on this finger may also symbolise someone that is gay in some beliefs.

In palmistry: Intelligence, Intuition, Communication, Persuasion, Children/Younger generation(Chinese)

Anyone remembers Dr.Evil and his pinky finger? ^o^

Lookbook 1 :Summer time is fun time

This lookbook is something I started working on a very long time ago and since my dilemma w/ my phone and losing all my pics I'll use in this blog.
These looks are expressions of Asian fashion and American trends fusing together. Most looks will seem cohesive but the pieces will be from completely different sides of the world (brand wise...we all know everything is made in Asia(most things))

Summertime is fun time has 3 Looks
1) Date look
2) Travel look
3) Morph-able look(3 looks in 1)
With that stated here is the first lookbook I put together!

Look 1: Fun, Flirty and Frivolous

"Her ponytail swings back and forth in the cool, wind as she totters down the uneven park walkway to her date who sits serenely on a green checkered blanket, flashing a smile as he spots her approaching."

Fun, flirty and just a little frivolous perfectly describes this outfit as it seems to be quite creatively cute but just a little impractical for a park date, maybe swap the heels with some pointed ballet flats.

Nevertheless the Flirt element is there with the pinks and flowy skirt, the Fun with the colour contrasts of pink and blue and the bright shoes and graphic bag and the frivolity of the whole thing altogether as it gives off a lighthearted vibe.

Look 2: Best Before Bedtime
"It became clear that the flying from country to country without anyone to enjoy the sights and scenes with her was a bore and very tiring. Fluffing her hair, she used it as a pillow and fell to sleep"

After jetsetting from L.A. to Tokyo nowadays everyone wants to be "fancy" but the reality is that you're going to be "fatigued" and this is a perfect outfit for hiding your jet-lagged, pre-nap grievances
A hat to hide your messed up hair because the flight was that wild, with the seat-belt sign coming on 3 times and all!
In all seriousness, this outfit is cute airport fashion and perfect for a long flight because you're basically wearing a nightie ;D hence the name Best Before Bedtime.

Look 3: Time to Tic Toc

"Rushing you throw shades in your bag and a fun necklace. Today you have to make a statement, you have to let everyone know you are in control... late but in control"

This is just as the synopsis states, a rush outfit, many elements that come together very beautifully as an ensemble. It can easily go from work to beach to night
Work= wear all pieces except the sunglasses
Beach/day= fold camisole into crop top, take off blazer and put on sunglasses
Night= fold camisole into crop top and put on blazer (sunglasses optional)

Andddd that's it for now, maybe a part2 with pics of my clothes may come along depending on the feedback on this one!

Riveting Reprise: My First Fashion Blog!

This is the start of my fashion blogging and I'm so excited! Being from the Caribbean I know I may not have many followers but I'm still gonna express myself 😁 fashion, beauty, styling... Art

Welcome to whoever reads this!

The name of the blog was hard to come up with as I already use "riveting" in most of my online usernames so I decided to use it again. The hard part was finding another word beginning with "r" that went with well it. Reprise is perfect (more about it in another post!)
